Earthquake eaRthquake!

When the earth quakes, the world standstill and there is peace for that period of time. This is the only time when people stop fighting and the effect of the aftershock is people begin to love each other. Love is something many are poor at. Why? Is loving so difficult?

I remember some chinese guy saying,' It takes 3 seconds to be evil, but 3 years to learn to be good'. Someone even said that 'The human nature is evil!'. However, what does love have to do with being evil and good? Nothing, i suppose.

Love is just love. To love is giving and to be loved is a blessing. So when the ground you are standing on are shaking, you know that love is on the way.

The "peace" after a disaster, such as an earthquake, is not true peace, but just a temporal lull. Similarly, what appears like "love" is just sympathy.

Hi joe, what it matters is there are peace and love. Why ask for so much, right. Every thing in this world has its limits.

Utama,

The latest news about Java's Merapi is not too good. Many have fled, but some stay because they are worried about their immovable properties!

What would you do if you're in their shoes?

Hi Joe, leave to a safer ground.

What about you?

If I'm old and not mobile, I'll tell family members to leave, while I'll stay and face my fate.

Why dont you leave too? What is more important than family...

Old age plus immobility will pose big burden and slow down others..not fair to do that, especially in matters of life and death...just my opinion.

Well...in my view, so long a person is not a burden deserve to live. However, even when a person is a burden, there is an exception of a sacrificial self by one made to another.

I think, regardless of age, one is be in the world, play a part in the society wherever he/she is. Im beginning to feel that self-centred-ness is a horror. haha.

Hi Utama, came here from Joe's
Nice post - thought-provoking.

I believe that when one is confronted by impending doom, one's outlook on life changes which reminds me of one scene in "You've Got Mail". Remember when Tom Hanks and a few others were trapped in the lift? Everyone expressed their noble intentions should they get out of the crisis.

Joe, I would prefer that the family leaves together than to have them worried about the one staying behind. The family would be going through torture just having to worry about his welfare. My two cents.

Hi Happy,

I do agree with you that the family have to go through torture for the member who stayed behind.

When someone close dies, it's the person who is alive that has to bear the brunt; in another words, suffer for the lost. The dead is blissfully asleep.
